Some days ago, one of my friends could not see folder options in tools in windows XP. He wanted to make some changes to the folder options, so that he could see hidden files.

This is a very simple trick that can be done by just making some changes in Windows Group Policy Editor.

Follow the step and enable or disable the "Folder Options" in tools in windows Xp.

Step 1: Click on 'Start' button > Go to Run and type: gpedit.msc

It results in a window just like the following image.

Now, In this window, navigate to;

User Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> Windows Explorer

Search for a key named "Removes the Folder Options menu from the Tools Menu". Double-click the key or press right click and select properties. A pop up box appears. It has 3 option.

1. Not Configured.
2. Enabled
3. Disabled.

Now select of the first two options as per your need. If you want to show this menu, select option 1 i.e. Not configured. Otherwise select option 2 (Enabled) to hide the "Folder Options" from Tools in windows... and you are done.

Hope this Windows XP trick was helpful. Share you expriences or ask questions by just leaving a comment below.

Just go to the drive or desketop (wherever you want to create this folder) and right click on the blank area, select new > Folder.

Step 2: Rename the folder. Hold ctrl & press 0160 and hit enter. This way folder's name becomes invisible.

Step 3: Make the folder's icon invisible. Right click on the folder icon > select properties option > customize > click on change icon. A pop up box will appear. There are many icons in this box, just scroll to the right and you will find some blank icons there. Choose one of the blank icons and press apply & ok.

How to add an image background to a folder in windows xp - computer tricks, computers

I like to have images in background for all the folders in windows XP. Many people think it is not possible to do that. So, i have created a tutorial on "how to add an image as background image to any folder in Windows XP." Just follow the instructions.

First, make sure all hidden files are visible on your system. Then, go to the folder for which you wish to add a background image. Within the folder, right-click and select Properties » Customize tab » Customize. There, choose any icon, click Apply and OK.

This will create a file named "desktop.ini" . Open that file with a text editor (eg: notepad). You will see the following code in the file.

[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll
IconIndex=(some number)

Just replace this code by following code.

ExtShellFolderViews]
{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}
[{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}]
IconArea_Image=C:\path\folder\background.jpg

To customize this according to your needs, edit the path in red in last line to reflect the location of the image, you wish to use as the background image for that particular folder. Save the code, close the file and Refresh the folder. You will see a new background in the folder.

Final Words:
Please try it at your own risk. I have created this tutorial for fun sake. So try it and leave a feedback or comment here.
